Bridgend Sports 62 Crynant 10

Bridgend Sports were in fine form on Saturday as they completely over-ran a Crynant side just two positions lower than them in the league. The first try, possibly the best of the game, came just after 2 minutes with the threequarters really on song when fly half Mark Davies neatly passed inside to winger Keith David who was clean through, he made 20 metres before slipping the ball inside to Ken Morris to run in the try that Josh Davies converted. The next 20 minutes saw good combination work from the threes again allowing Mark Davies and Dan James to score. Both tries converted by Josh Davies.

Crynant pulled back three points from a penalty from their fly half following an offside infringement from the Sports. The half finished with a fine try by second row forward Josh Thomas who was very quick in his support for the free-running backline as he sealed the bonus point try for Davies to convert from wide out as the half ended 28 -3.

Callum Griffiths replaced Keith David at half time and when presented with his first touch of the ball from Dan James, he made a good outside break, sold a neat dummy before giving a scoring pass to Lewis Obard who touched down wide out. Josh Davies missed the kick but from the restart set up an attack from deep in the Sports half that saw Dan James again in the action once more with Callum Griffiths who switched the ball inside to Ken Morris, he was supported by Gary Punter who neatly passed to Tony Millington for a converted try under the posts.

At 40-3 the Sports were in full control until Crynant changed their approach and tried to keep everything very tight. This resulted in two yellow cards for the Sports as they attempted to thwart the driving mauls. Crynant took advantage and scored from a driving maul taking the score to 40-10.
When the Sports next visited the Crynant 22, from the kick off, 13 man Sports were awarded a penalty that helped them run down the clock as Josh Davies increased their lead to 43-10. The Sports now attacked at every opportunity and it was Josh Davies who started another deep attack that was taken on by Mark Davies, Callum Griffiths and Gary Punter whose quick pass to Lee Roderick was a class move. Roderick scoring in the corner.

A really good conversion from Davies again. Dan James was next to score as he weaved his way over the line for his second try after great inter-passing from the forwards, Davies added the points. It was only fitting that the final try came after the threes had fed the ball and switched play a few times before that man Josh Davies popped up on the wing to score in the corner taking his tally to 22 points and the Sports to an emphatic win of 62-10.

It is interesting to point out that the in-form Josh Davies has now scored 77 points in the last 4 games!
