Fixture

Sports travelled to Tondu with a smaller squad than usual.  But the boys showed in their warm up that they were ready for this game.  Sports kicked off and from the first moment showed their intent to tackle.   The oppositions game plan was to use their big players to try and bash through our defence, and the boys showed great commitment and team work bringing these players down.  Despite the strong defence Tondu scored first with a try in the corner, and capitalised on this soon after with a second.  The competition at the breakdown was fierce some and the Sports became more competitive in this area as the game went on.  Sports quick passing from the ruck gave Evan the space he needed to cross for the first try.  Converted by Owain.  Sports pulled level before half time when Tom barged his way through. With the scores tied at half time it was every thing to play for in the second half.  Against the run of play Tondu scored first but failed to convert.  Sports kept their spirits up and fought their way to the Tondu line and were unlucky to have a try not given.  The boys kept the pressure on and with some skillful passing, the ball came to Dexter who was able to power through the defence.  Converted by Ethan. Unfortunately after an extended period of injury time, and despite heroic defence sneaked a try at the end to claim the game.

There were some big performances by many of the boys and a commitment to the ruck and tackle that has been missing in the last two weeks.  This was a hard fought game and each of the players should be proud.  Our first aider was kept busy throughout the game patching players up before their return to the fray.  MVP award goes to Archie Faulkner Lerway for his improvement in the ruck contest, one incident in particular where he drove back one of the biggest opposition players.  Big well done to all.
